About Kumbhalgarh :
Kumbhalgarh city is located in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan and is popularly known for the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Kumbhalgarh also known as Kumbhalmer or Kumbalgarh is a Mewar castle situated 84 km from Udaipur in Rajasthan. Because of its huge development, this fort is the second most considerable fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh, which was designed during the leadership of Maharana Kumbha in Fifteenth millennium A.D. This fort is also a homeland of Maharana Pratap, the excellent master and enthusiast of Mewar.Top Tourist Attractions in Kumbhalgarh Kumbhalgarh Fort – The fort is self-contained and has within its amalgam almost everything to withstand a long siege. The fort fell only once that too to the combined armies of Mughal and of Amber for scarcity of drinking water. Many magnificent palaces an array of temples built by the Mauryas of which the most picturesque place is the Badal Mahal or the palace of the clouds. The fort also offers a superb birds view of the surroundings. The fort's thick wall stretches some 36 kms and is wide enough to take eight horses abreast. Maharana Fateh Singh renovated the fort in the Book Your Tour 19th century. The fort's large compound has very interesting ruins and the walk around it can be very rewarding. Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary - Located at a distance of 65 km from Udaipur, this sanctuary, which is spread over an area of 578 sq km, has derived its name from the fort and covers parts of Udaipur, Rajsamand and Pali districts. It is the only sanctuary in Rajasthan, where wolves can be found. Hyenas, leopards, jackals, sloth bears, sambars, jungle cats, , chausinghas (four horned antelopes), nilgais, chinkaras, and hares can be spotted here. |
